The beginning of a vision

Roma Film Orchestra was born in 2006 from the vision of Digital Records and the experience of its coordinator, Angelo Giovagnoli, a figure deeply connected to the world of Rome’s orchestral tradition.

With years of experience at the heart of the Roman music scene, Angelo Giovagnoli had developed a profound knowledge of the finest musicians belonging to the city’s most prestigious ensembles, including the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Orchestra of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the former RAI Symphony Orchestra, and the RAI Light Music Orchestra.This unique network of musicians became the foundation of Roma Film Orchestra: an ensemble created to bring together excellence, versatility, and the authentic sound of Italian orchestral tradition.

More than one thousand soundtracks, one thousand stories

Since 2006, Roma Film Orchestra has recorded more than one thousand titles across every genre of music, moving effortlessly from classical repertoire to contemporary soundtracks, from intimate chamber textures to large symphonic productions.

Each project has represented a new artistic journey, accompanying composers, directors, and producers in the creation of music designed to become part of the emotional language of cinema, television, and visual storytelling.

The voices of great composers

Throughout its history, Roma Film Orchestra has had the privilege of collaborating with some of the greatest composers of Italian and international cinema.

From the legendary masters who shaped the history of film music — including Ennio Morricone, Franco Piersanti, Carlo Crivelli, Luis Bacalov, and Armando Trovajoli — to the contemporary generation of composers such as Andrea Guerra, Alessandro Molinari, Michele Braga, Emanuele Bossi, Paolo Buonvino, Paolo Vivaldi, Fabio Massimo Capogrosso, Giuliano Taviani, Carmelo Travia, and many others.

Each collaboration has added a new chapter to a story built on creativity, excellence, and passion for music.

Through the years, the work of Roma Film Orchestra and Digital Records has contributed to the creation of soundtracks that have received major national and international recognition, including Academy Awards®, Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards, David di Donatello, Nastri d’Argento, awards from the Venice and Berlin Film Festivals, and other prestigious acknowledgements in the world of cinema.

A journey that continues today, bringing together composers, orchestrators, conductors, and musicians with one common goal: transforming musical ideas into emotions and giving every story the power of a truly cinematic sound.
